I am dual fellowship trained in General Practice and Musculoskeletal Medicine and work in both areas. Musculoskeletal Medicine is a specialty that is involved in the diagnosis and management of painful conditions affecting the joints, muscles, vertebral discs, and nervous system. As a fully qualified GP I can also see you about any other general health problem.

I mix my time between Ellerslie Medical Centre for General Practice, and Marua Medical Centre for Musculoskeletal Medicine. I can see patients (who are enrolled with us primarily as their general GP) at Ellerslie for musculoskeletal problems . Non-enrolled patients and those who wish to consult me solely for a musculoskeletal issue should see me at Marua Medical Centre (referral required).

For enrolled patients or patients in the central Auckland area who are considering enrolling to see me at Ellerslie Medical Centre, please be aware that you are not able to access special ACC or insurance funding if you self-refer. ACC and other insurers only provide extra funding for specialists if there is a referral in place e.g. from another GP or your physiotherapist, osteopath, or chiropractor. I cannot refer to myself. Practically this means less time available for complex problems, no ACC or other insurer funding for injections, and inability to refer for imaging in certain situations. My approved scope of practice is much broader at Marua Medical Centre which operates exclusively as a specialist clinic.

I am fully set up in General Practice to do various types of landmark and ultrasound guided joint, nerve, tendon, and spinal injections for the treatment of certain pain conditions. There are certain spine injections that aren’t possible at Ellerslie Medical Centre. I also do some limited minor surgery (e.g. mole excisions and ingrown toenail surgery).
