This winter has been particularly tough on everyone. We’ve seen a sharp increase in viral illness, and we know how stressful it is when you are unwell and appointments are scarce.

Like most general practices across New Zealand, we are navigating some significant challenges. We are facing staff shortages, and a funding system that hasn’t kept up with our rising costs. Hospitals are also under significant pressure and often have to decline referrals, meaning we are caring for more patients with complex health needs here at our practice. Please know we are committed and working hard to ensure you continue to get the best possible care.

Despite these pressures, we are proud that we can still see most patients within 24-48 hours during the working week, a wait time many other practices can’t match. We also have a dedicated resource to ensure a 24-hour turnaround for prescription requests during the working week. If you need urgent medical advice and our appointments are full, please let our reception team know. A nurse will call you back to help, and she can ask our duty doctor for their input if necessary.

Fees Review

Due to the challenges we’ve outlined and rising costs, we have had to make a very difficult decision. To ensure we retain our experienced and dedicated team and continue to provide high-quality care, we have had to increase our fees. The new fees will take effect from Monday 25 August 2025 for all enrolled patients and will apply to both ACC and medical consultations. We know that any increase in costs is a burden, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these financial pressures.

We remain committed to providing you and your whānau with the highest quality of care. We are grateful for your understanding and continued support of our practice.
